SpaceShipOne captured the X Prize today, as it became the first private craft to reach space (368,000 feet, unofficially). For their effort, they get the $10 million prize. All this for a fraction of what it costs NASA to get into space, although, granted, NASA has much more versatile and complex equipment.
I dunno, I just think its pretty cool. Perhaps this means we can more readily explore space? Space tourism, anyone? I don’t really care about the practical applications; figuring out a way to get into space, and actually doing it, is plenty enough for me. It’s all about the journey, right?
